Thank you. I was touched when I saw him. It was a Saving Private Ryan moment.

Behind The Lens
Location
This was taken at a traveling Viet Nam Memorial that set up in Hayden, Idaho for several days in summer 2013.Time
It was mid-day.Lighting
The memorial was set up on a large soccer field of grass. No trees or shadows anywhere. It was just natural lighting.Equipment
Sony Nex-6 and 17-55mm lens. The camera has a built-in HDR which I used.Inspiration
This event was very busy and I felt comfortable just taking photos of scenes that I witnessed. I saw this man touch the monument and snapped quickly. His hand, the lowered head, the hunched shoulders.....this was a "Saving Private Ryan" scene for me at the time.Editing
The only post-processing would be sharpening on iphoto and some cropping. In my camera bag
Sony Nex-6 17-55mm, 14mm, 50-200mm and fish-eye lens. I always carry extra batteries and memory cards. I also carry a bean bag for stability. For this photo I was just carrying my camera with the 17-55mm lens.Feedback
When an event is very crowded and people are preoccupied, feel free to shoot away! No one paid any attention to me with my camera. I actually didn't know I'd captured this poignant scene until I uploaded my photos. If you are shy, or hesitant or feel self-conscious, the moment is lost. I did not engage this man in conversation at all. I just moved on.
