Location
I took this photo near Rathdrum, Idaho, in north Idaho. It's about 30 miles from Spokane, WA and about 90 miles south of the Canadian border.Time
It was late morning, like about 11:00 a.m. as I recall.Lighting
It was a bit of a storm day. Overcast with storm clouds coming in.Equipment
I used a Sony Nex-6. Handheld.Inspiration
I love these railroad tracks because they appear to be really in the middle of nowhere. Since this photo, the trains no longer use those tracks. It's across the prairie in north Idaho.Editing
I did very little post-processing, just a few sliders. I used the in-camera HDR setting. In my camera bag
I travel light usually. I carry two Sonys.....a Nex-6 with a 50-200mm lens on it and a Sony a6000 with a 17-50mm lens. I carry a couple extra batteries and a fish eye lens. I sometimes have a beanbag with me for stabilization. Most of the time I am in my car and close to home. I jump in and out of my car to take the photos.Feedback
This is about 3 miles from my home. My basic philosophy is to try and appreciate where I live and shoot what attracts my attention in my own environment. At this point in my life I just am not going to be flying to Iceland for the good stuff! There is "good stuff" right at home.
