Location
This is a picture of the Moulton Barn in the fields of Jackson Hole Wyoming. I was working for a local camera business at the time, and we decided to go on a quick photography vacation in one of the most gorgeous places on earth. Its near impossible to take a bad photo of this place!Time
We had woken up at around 4 am to make a quick drive to the barn in time to capture the perfect lighting that is cast from a sunrise. It had rained during the night, and I remember the air and ground being so crisp and clean, its was refreshing!Lighting
Anything about lighting is worth sharing! Without lighting, photography would not exist. Lighting is what can give a photo a personality, and portray emotion. I think the only other thing out there can can portray emotion as good, if not better than lighting, is the human expression. But when you capture an image where the light is reflecting light just perfectly, your picture will be astounding.Equipment
This was shot using a Nikon D90 and a tamron 17-50mm f/2.8 lens mounted on a tripod. It was still pretty early in the morning, so that tripod was a must for some longer exposures!Inspiration
Moulton barn has been a very popular destination for photographers everywhere for quite some time, and has produced some gorgeously iconic images. So when I heard I would have the opportunity to get some shots of it myself I was beyond stoked!Editing
This is a High Dynamic Range image. I took 3 seperate pictures, each about 3 exposure steps apart, and used photomatix pro to process the images into one. And it was simple as that! No further post-processing was needed in my oppinion! In my camera bag
Nothing fancy, but everything I need to take the perfect picture! I shoot with a Nikon D90, it is my first DSLR I have ever owned and I love it to death! I have 3 lenses that allow me to capture a wide expanse of focal lengths and apertures. I primarily shoot with a Tamron 17-50mm f/2.8 lens. Its perfect for about any situation! I also have a promaster 70-300 macro lens. Very cheap, but it gets the job done! And last but not least I have a Nikon 50mm f/1.8 lens, perfect for some portraits!Feedback
Be prepared to sacrifice some time and sleep! We had to wake up at 4 AM after a full day of driving, but hey. Nothing a pot of fresh coffee can't help! And just keep shooting! Take enough pictures some of them are bound to come out great! Take pictures of everything, from different angles and different exposures. Some of my favorite pictures are ones that I have taken spontaneously and randomly and it worked out!
