Location
Picture taken at Cape St. Mary’s Newfoundland CanadaTime
It was taken in the afternoon around 1:00 pmLighting
It had been cloudy with low lying fog but the windy conditions cleared the sky.Equipment
Canon DSLR and a Sigma 600mm image stablized lens. Picture was hand held so I could get close to the cliff edge.Inspiration
Cape St Mary’s Is a ecological reserve. The cliffs are white with nesting sea birds. 10’s of thousands of birds come every year to nest, it’s an amazing site to see.Editing
I use Lightroom and Adobe CCIn my camera bag
My camera bag is a Lowepro supertrecker but has become too heavy for extended hiking. So I take a smaller bag and pack what I figure I need.Feedback
Be patient. I usually find a good vantage point and just watch the birds. With camera in hand so I can quickly capture an interesting moment. Know your gear, a few test shots to get going. If your using a super telephoto use IS and make sure distance settings are correct so you don’t miss a shot.
