Location
This picture was taken in a place called Bull Arm Fabrication Site which is operated by NALCOR Energy in Newfoundland Canada. Bull Arm is located near the town of Sunnyside and Come by Chance Newfoundland Canada. Bull Arm is part of Trinity Bay which is on the Atlantic Ocean.Time
This was taken early in the morning around 5:00 am.Lighting
All the lighting came from the massive Hebron offshore oil platform that was floating in the deep water site awaiting tow out to its final destination offshore.Equipment
This picture was taken with an IPhone 5S. I used the steel structure of the supply ship to steady the picture as I shot it.Inspiration
I was coming off shift and the heavy sea ice prevented the small shuttle boat from ferrying us back to shore. So this time a very large ocean supply vessel transported us back to shore as it could sail through the heavy sea ice. Being on the deck and outside I had full view of this massive offshore oil platform and the light was reflecting off the water. It was a one in a million opportunity to capture this amazing view. I had many copies of this picture printed and shared them with many of my coworkers so they had a memory of this amazing ExxonMobil project here in Newfoundland Canada.Editing
Yes, I used Lightroom to do minor adjustments such as shadow, blackness and sharpness. In my camera bag
When I am travelling I use a much smaller bag. I take my go to camera a Canon 5D MK III and a EF 16-35mm f?2.8 II USM L lens, and a EF 70-200mm f/2.8 II IS USM L lens and an assortment of filters. Also a Manfrotto 290 tripod.Feedback
I have learned that photo opportunities happen sometimes when you least expect it. As such I normally have a camera close by. Sometimes you don't have much time to shoot so take as many images as you can.
