Behind The Lens

Location

Key Largo Florida Gulf of Mexico

Time

It was not at the best time of day for lighting around 11am

Lighting

It was very contrasty so I used a low angle shot that would help and because he was on a paddle board

Equipment

this was a Go Pro set to take single images every 2 seconds attached to the front of the paddle board

Inspiration

I was working on a Tourism Video for a resort in Key Largo Florida. I mainly was capturing video for the resort but I decided to do a few still images too.

Editing

Yes I took the color image in photoshop, enhanced the blue sky and white clouds then converted it to black & white forcing rich blacks and more pure whites. although I kept the 10 zones from black to white. I then pushed the contrast a little to give it more rich blacks

In my camera bag

I carry three bags for different styles of shooting bag 1 simple 1 camera body nikon D7100 three lenses nikon 70-100, zeiss 50mm, zeiss 15mm batteries, cards, tripod bag 2 2 bodies Nikon D800-Nikon D700 15, 24, 50, 85, 180, 70-200, 300 nikon flash batteries, cards, tripod Bag 3 (case) 3 bodies same lens as above plus 16mm fisheye, larger tripod, and 4 portable strobes and battery supply

Feedback

shoot shoot shoot, take notes, experiment, learn professional lighting, learn the old style rules of a photographer and then you can break the rules
