on the right hand side where it has the camera settings, they are not right! I shot this in the studio with ISO 100, 160th shutter, f/11, three strobes and on Zeiss 85mm

How in the World, @ f/32 could there be blur in your eyes, but this is an absolutely GREAT shot .... as well as all the Rock Photography I'd LOve to talk about.

Location
in my studioTime
time of day does not matter, it was shot in the studio with strobe lightsLighting
three strobes and a black background. General three point lighting. Back light, side light, and fill light. The ratio of the lighting was 4 to 1 the Key light on the right side was f/16 the fill was f/4 and the back light was at f/32 basically one stop over for the back light. No light on the background.Equipment
Nikon D800, Zeiss 85mm lens, three strobes, tripod, and a timer on the cameraInspiration
I needed a photo of myself for my business cards. I was shooting a food set up for advertising and decided to shoot the self portrait after.Editing
I shot it in color knowing It would be in RAW, then converted it in Photoshop and Corrected it in Zone tones. (my background is in film and using the Zone System) Adding HDR and black & white gave the image a lot of character. In my camera bag
Nikon D800, Zeiss 15mm, Zeiss 50mm, Zeiss 85mm, 60mm Nikon Micro and a 70-200 Nikon 2.8, Lexar professional High Speed Flash Cards and Lexar professional high Speed SD cards, Nikon SB 700 flash, 2 batteries for hand grip, 2 batteries for camera, 4 double a's for flash, a go pro with extra batteries and 2 cards. a Zacuto viewfinder.Feedback
I think Zone System when shooting Black & White. Now, you cannot over expose and under develop like the old days but you can think of the tonal values when shooting. You need to realise what you can and cannot do with the exposures over and under in digital and with photoshop. In this photo its very simple because you control the light with the strobes and not much is needed in post.
