Surreal and quite interesting......could look at it for hours and still be interested by the crazy juxtaposition of the ripples going into the trees on the far shore.

Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in upper Michigan on Lake Michigan, reflection of a sunset and cattails

Time

Evening almost twilight as the sun was setting

Lighting

The lighting is all natural of the springtime sunset in Michigan, waiting for perfect moment when the sun is just right in the reflection

Nikon D200, Nikon 60mm lens, tripod,

Inspiration

The beauty of the reflection in the lake of the beautiful sunset

Editing

YES, the ripples are fake and created in Photoshop, I also added some softness to the edges of the ripples giving this image a satin feeling or look, and highlights along the top of the ripples. This is a great image matted and framed

In my camera bag

I have different bags for different projects bag one: Nikon D7100 with 10-24, 60mm, 180mm cards batteries SB 700 flash tripod bag two: Nikon D800 15mm Zeiss, 25mm Zeiss, 50mm Zeiss, 85mm Zeiss, 70-200 zoom 2.8 tripod Bag three: 2 Nikon Bodies, all lenses above + 16mm fisheye, 300mm, 5 portable Strobes and battery tripods

Feedback

To create something like this you need to first start off with a great shot that feels right to you. Then, experiment in your darkroom program, I use Photoshop, although there are others you can use. experiment and work at it until you find something that has a unique look. The other thing I suggest is to SHOOT<SHOOT<SHOOT and take notes, remember what and how you did the shot!
