Location
The photo was taken on Uttakleiv Beach which is located on the Lofoten Islands in the northern part of Norway. Lofoten is just inside the Arctic Circle which makes it an really interesting place.Time
I was actually spending most of a day here at Uttakleiv Beach and the beautiful surroundings. My plan was to end the day with a sunset photo and this is of course the result. Date: Mar 24, 2016 - I don't remember the exact time of the day but obviously around sunset.Lighting
I was really splitted about this sunset. Should I take it on this side of the mountain at Uttakleiv beach or should I take it on the other side at Haukland Beach. I'm pretty sure that it would work on the other side as well, but it would be another result and less colour full.Equipment
Canon EOS 5D Mark III, Canon EF 17-40mm f/4l, Random tripod, Lee Filter System (Big Stopper and a 0.9 ND Soft Grad).Inspiration
I have been inspired from a lot of photographers around the world, there is so much talent everywhere! I'm really interested in the long exposure technique and I'm still learning how to master the technique.Editing
I did my post-processing in Lightroom. The RAW file turned out to be rather cold, so one of the main goals was to change the warmth in the photo as well boosting the colors a bit so the sunset would pop out more. The rest of the process was just fine tuning contrast, sharpness etc.In my camera bag
I try always to pack a bottle of water. Never go low on liquid! I have my camera with my wide angle lens. Beside that I have a 100-400mm lens from Canon as well, you never know if you run in to a situation where it's needed. My Lee Filter System, remote trigger, spare batteries, equipment to clean my lens, my tripod and of course a lot of other small things that I don't remember.Feedback
Be at your desired location an hour before sunrise or if you are going for a sunset you can go way earlier to find the perfect spot for your photo. It's a really good idea if you have scouted the location before and you have an idea how your photo should be. Unfortunately we don't control the weather, so remember to check the weather forecast the day before.
