The green seem to tame the imposing barrenness. The royal sky, an impending promise in a fading light. Beauty majestically framed.

I was just in Monument Valley but didn't get to see this part at sunset. I missed something special. Fantastic photograph!

Golden Hour at Sunset in February 2016Lighting
The very cold clean winter air in the desert south west almost free of haze can give you the purest colors at sunset/sunrise.Equipment
NIKON D810 Focal Length: 56 mm 24-70mm F2.8G Shutter Speed: 76923/1000000 sec Aperture: f/14 ISO: 31 Tripod with 3 sec shutter delayInspiration
The Totems Poles of Monument Valley has always had my interest and looking at photos from others just placed a burr under my saddle to get going and get my vision of this sacred Navajo place.Editing
I use PS CC along with Lightroom CC. Just pushing sliders till you get the moment you remembered in your mind. On this photo I used a form of HDR by combining shots from the shoot to get the sky and foreground using the best light conditions from each.In my camera bag
Nikon D810, D800E, 16-35 F4.0G VR, 24-70 F2.8G, 85mm F1.4G, TC-14E III and 300mm F2.8G VRII, Manfrotto Tripod and Flash unitFeedback
Be bold and creative in your photography. Know the limits of you abilities and be prepared to exceed those limits to get the shot you envisioned in your mind. I never give up when it doesn't happen on your first efforts and I have waited more than a year in some cases to retry the shoot.
