Behind The Lens
Location
This was taken along the Campion Trails in Irving Texas. I had been bike riding on the trail and went back to shoot butterflies I'd seen when came across the dogs playing in the waterTime
This would have been shot in late morningLighting
It was a clear early fall day so the sun was pretty brightEquipment
I used a Canon T4i and Sigma 70-300mm f/4-5.6 DG Macro Telephoto Zoom Lens for this shot. It's a bang-around camera and lens I keep locked in my trunk in case I see something photo-worthy; the dogs and butterflies fit the bill!Inspiration
The dogs were just having way too much fun running through the puddles not to try a few shots!Editing
I played with lighting and colors a bit in LightRoom, that's about it.In my camera bag
I normally carry a Canon 70D with a Tamron 16/300mm mounted and a 5D Mk III with any number of lenses ranging from a 8mm diagonal fisheye to a Sigma 200-500mm telephoto, depending on what I'll be shooting. I'm usually looking for cool things at random while traveling, so I don't get to plan a lot of shots beforehand - I've found I spend the most time with various prime lenses and the 17-300mm Tamron though, the Tamron's range lets you capture almost anything on the fly and reduces the need for lens changes out in the openFeedback
This was a very impromptu shot - just remember to take the camera out when something interesting happens! We've all gotten caught up in the moment when something happens and got to take a pic...
