This photo was taken on Verne hill on Portland, Dorset. I'm lucky enough to live here with the view of Chesil Beach as it stretches down to Westbay.Time
My wife had said about a walk we normally walk down the hill to the beach and watch the sun go down but on this occasion we walked up the hill to catch the late evening sun.Lighting
It was the start of the Golden hour...the sun was not very high in the sky and gave off those lovely warm tones that made you feel good about being out.Equipment
I hadn't planned to take any photos we were just going out for a walk but at the last minute I picked up my Canon 6D with its 16-35 lens on just incase..Inspiration
We had walked up the hill when all of a sudden this horse stared to follow us...at the top of the hill it leaves off and just by chance that is where the horse stopped..it was almost like he was willing me to take the photo and when he lifted his head a looked back down the coast I thought it was perfect! I only manage to get a few shots off before he got engrossed in eating again and the moment was gone..Editing
In this case not really...I boosted the warm colours a bit but other than that not a lot really. In my camera bag
Normally my Canon 6d plus 16-35 and 24-105 lens along with various Lee Filters ND grads and a Big stopperFeedback
I had done this walk so many times so much so I almost didn't bother with my camera...it really goes to show that we can plan as much as we can but sometimes in fact a lot of the time it's just a case of being in the right place at the right time with your camera by your side. Always expect the unexpected and be prepared to react...Enjoy the moment!
