Castlepoint is less than an hours drive from where I live. Great capture of one of my favourite spots to destress from the real world.

Location
This photo was taken on a recent trip to New Zealand, we were lucky enough to stop here at Castle Point as the sun was starting to go down. I would have loved more time here to catch the sunset but we had a ferry to catch and no time left.Time
It was late afternoon when we arrived and we only had a very short time that we could stay, I wish we could have stayed longer! Definitely going to go back it was such a photogenic area if only we had had more time!Lighting
The sun was getting low so the evening light was that lovely warm golden light.Equipment
I used my Canon 6D with a 16-35 lens on a manfratto tripod with cable release. It was definitely worth using the tripod as it meant I could slow the shutter right down and not worry about camera shake.Inspiration
I love seascapes, and especially at the end of the day. The lighthouse and pathway just led me into the photograph. I took lots of different angles some I have still to work through but biggest regret as I have already said is not having enough time! Next time..Editing
I use Lightroom on most of my editing, this time all I did was boost the warmth of the evening light using the temperature slider added a bit of sharping to the texture of the wood and added a vignette to further draw the eye into the photo. In my camera bag
I always carry my Canon 6D along with both the 16-35 and 24-105 lens when i'm out shooting landscapes, these two lens cover pretty much all my needs. Added to that a selection on Lee Filters ND grads and a Big stopper and that's me pretty much set. I will normally take my tripod with me even though it ways a far bit...too many times I've left it behind and regretted it!Feedback
New Zealand is a photographers paradise...empty beaches stunning scenery around every bend in the road. My best bit of advice would be give yourself as much time as you can..plan ahead ..especially at those key times of dawn and dusk. There are not many people about at those times but there are just so many beautiful places to visit time runs away..Enjoy the moment!
