Location
This photo was taken while on a cruise in Alaska. This was the Nancy Arm Fjord on the way out after an early morning visit to the Sawyer Glacier.Time
I think it was close to noon when this photo was taken.Lighting
The lighting is all natural.Equipment
I used an iPhone 4S for this shot. I also used a Canon Elph and a Sony Alpha 300 on the trip. Proof positive as to why I always carry more than one camera....the Sony DSLR was damaged on the flight to the cruise so although I used it to take 1000 photos the better photos were taken on the iPhone and the Canon.Inspiration
The entire morning was absolutely breathtaking.....literally and figuratively. We headed down the Fjord around 5am, spent a couple of hours at the Sawyer Glacier and then traveled back out. With each turn of the ship the view changed and from each view it was spectacular.Editing
Post-processing, if any, would have been contrast. In my camera bag
I normally have a full size DSLR camera, multiple lenses, a small Canon Elph, tripod....small and full size.... (when possible), flash, extra batteries and extra memory cards.Feedback
General rule of thumb....use multiple cameras. Use multiple lenses. Try zoom. Try wide-angle. Be prepared for any weather conditions. If the captain says get up early....trust them. Try different vantage points on the ship. Take as many shots from as many angles as possible.
