Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo at a small zoo called Zoo Doo at Richmond, Tasmania Australia. We visited in November 2021.

Time

As we were visiting family, and took my sister, who lives in Richmond and had not visited Zoo Doo, it would have been around late morning as she enjoys a sleep in...lol.

Lighting

There was nothing special about lighting, just a cloudy day.

Equipment

The only equipment I used was my Nikon P950. I took this photo handheld.

Inspiration

This Ostrich has a bit of a reputation, and we were advised to not go under the wire set away from the fence. Apparently this particular Ostrich would try to peck you if you crossed the line. So that was a challenge to me. Not to cross the line, but get a close up portrait. I think I achieved that, and the look of arrogance says it all.

Editing

Not a lot of post-processing needed, just a bit of Enhancement.

In my camera bag

Nowadays I just have my Nikon P950 camera, cleaning cloth, spare battery, and spare SD card.

Feedback

Have fun, try to capture the essence of the situation. Sometimes a close up of an animal's face will show you its character.
