I took this photo out on my patio table at home.Time
I would have taken it in the afternoon as that is when I usually "play".Lighting
As it was afternoon the sun would not have been shining directly onto the mirror as our patio faces east. I would only have natural, but good light under the roof.Equipment
The only equipment I used was my Nikon camera, my Tamron 30-70mm lens set on macro, (I didn't have a proper macro lens back then). I just hand held and used auto.Inspiration
I had seen photos of droplets on all sorts of different things, so thought I would try something. As we have lots of chooks, feathers are readily accessible.Editing
I can't remember if I did do any post-processing, but if I did it would only have been what is available on Windows 10, as I don't have any other programme....yet. I may have just cropped it, if there was any edges of the mirror and maybe enhanced a little. In my camera bag
My Nikon D5100 Camera, with Nikon 18-55mm, Nikon 55-200mm, Nikon 40mm and Tamron 70-300mm lenses. Also spare battery, spare memory card, remote shutter release and lens cleaning pen. I will take my tripod if I think I may need it and always when going on holidays.Feedback
I guess the most important thing I have discovered is to experiment, it's a learning experience every time, but a fun one. It's also very important to make sure the mirror is dust and fingerprint free, otherwise it will show. Also look up to what ceiling is above (if you are under the roof), as that will become the background. I have tried holding a black card above, but be picky on the texture of the card. Plain coloured glass is also fun to experiment with, but can be a bit expensive.
