I was at Lone Pine watching the Raptor Show and this beautiful barn owl flew straight at me, her keeper was standing beside me at the time. She was focused on getting her treat of a mouse.

Location
I took this photo at Lone Pine, Brisbane. Queensland. Lone Pine is a Koala Sanctuary, but also has other animals including raptors.Time
This was taken late morning during the raptor show in July 2016.Lighting
The lighting was just what the sun provided. I was standing under a roof at the back of all the seats in the shade. The owl was just about to come under the roof from being on the branch in the background.Equipment
I have a Nikon D5100 and I can't remember which lens I used, but was either my kit lens or my Tamron Tele-Macro 70-300. I did not use a tripod or flash, just hand held and on auto.Inspiration
I had been trying to capture birds in flight for awhile and when I looked at it on my computer, I felt so excited. I was extremely lucky that I happened to be standing next to the bird's handler who had a mouse for her lunch. Consequently the bird was flying straight at me.Editing
I didn't have any editing program, except Windows which just enhanced any photos I took, so nothing fancy. In my camera bag
It depends on where I am as to what I have with me. If I am travelling on holidays I will take all my lenses....Nikon 18-55, Tamron 70-300, Nikkor Micro 40mm for my Nikon D5100 camera. I always have extra SD cards and battery. I also take my remote shutter and tripod. If I am just going local it will be whichever lens suits for the time.Feedback
If possible go to a raptor show and position yourself close to the handlers. I would ask the handler where would be the best place to stand, they are happy to help. I sometimes use the sports mode to photograph flying birds and most times I will get at least one good photo.
