Behind The Lens

Location

I had just purchased a new Tamron Macro lens and Brewster, my pet Maltese Shitzu was looking at me while he was sitting on the lounge at home, so I just took his photo. Actually this was the first photo I took with my new lens.

Time

I think it was early afternoon as we had been into the city earlier that day.

Lighting

The only lightning was the natural light which was coming into the room. The day was sunny.

Equipment

Nikon D5100 and Tamron 70-300mm 1:4-5.6 Tele Macro (1:2) lens.

Inspiration

Brewster was sitting there looking so cute with his tongue poking out (actually it is always poking out because of an overbite of his jaw) and I wanted to just take a photo with my new lens....any photo and he was handy.

Editing

I don't do a lot of post-processing and the only editing I did was just enhancement which is part of Windows 10 program. I don't have Photoshop so most of my editing is done through Windows 10.

In my camera bag

I always carry a spare battery and memory card. Lens cleaner, remote shutter release, sometimes my tripod and battery charger if we are away from home for a few days. My Nikon D5100, Nikon 18-55mm lens, Nikon 55-200mm lens, and of course my Tamron 70-300mm lens.

Feedback

Firstly I would say take photos of what you like/interest you. My first interest is flowers, but now I am also getting interested in birds. Another thing is to "seize the moment". I always have my camera sitting around the lounge room or somewhere handy. It's always helpful if you have friends or family who know what your interests are as they can be "spotters" just like my husband and granddaughters, as there are often photo opportunities in your own backyard. Mostly if you do what interests you, good photos will come with practice, but also it's good to broaden your horizons. And lastly practice, practice and practice some more. This advice was given to me and it's true for improving your photography.
