Location
This photo was taken along the Great Ocean Road in Victoria, Australia. There are many beautiful vantage points along this road and The Grotto is just one. The window in the rock looks out to the wild Southern Ocean with nothing between this road and Antarctica.Time
I took this on 19 September 2015 at 9.30am. We had just arrived back to the mainland from Tasmania after a 4 month visit caring for my Mum. This was just one moment in time of an incredible 2 weeks of taking the long way home to Queensland.Lighting
There was nothing special about the lighting, just natural sunshine.Equipment
I used my Nikon D5100 camera with Nikon 18-55mm lens and was handheld.Inspiration
I knew about all the beautiful stop off spots that make for great photos as I had been along this road previously, but not with a decent camera. So this time I made the most of all the photo spots and took many photos. I really liked this spot as it is so different and you have to climb down some steps to get to the best spot. I feel like this is a window to the vastness of the Southern Ocean and Antarctica beyond.Editing
Originally I didn't have any editing software, but when I purchased Luminar I thought lets see if I can make this better. I think I just used AI Enhance. In my camera bag
Normally I have besides my Nikon camera, I have Nikon 18-55, Micro 40mm lens, Tamron 70-300mm lens. I always have a couple of spare SD cards, spare battery and cleaning cloth. I always have my phone and GTN spray for angina (just in case). If I am going on holidays I usually take my tripod.Feedback
The only advice I would suggest is to go to lots of different and interesting places as much as possible and have fun. Look around to find the best angle for the best composition and lighting. Maybe research places close to home, but also if going away research interesting locations.
