This was a Humpback Breach while whale watching in the Bay of Banderas. This was actually a double breach. If you look to your left the second whale was coming out of the water right behind this one.

This image was shot in Puerto Vallarta Mexico on a whale watching excursionTime
This was late morning with a bit of a hazy full sun.Lighting
The lighting was what I had. With this opportunity there wasn't any changing of the lighting. I had to work with what I was given. Fortunately while the sun was bright there was a bit of a haze in the sky.Equipment
This shot was taken with a Nikon D7500 and a 400 mm Nikor zoom. It was hand held due to what I was trying to photograph.Inspiration
We took a whale watching excursion. I had been on several before. So I thought I knew what I was getting into. This whale watching was like no other. We got into a group of males fighting over the affection of a lone female and the action was on. This particular shot was actually a double breach as another whale was just breaking the surface to the left on this image.Editing
I simply cleaned the image up a bit in Adobe Lightroom. In my camera bag
Since this image I have moved on to mirrorless cameras using Nikon Z7ii and various lenses.Feedback
Just get out there and do it. I had learned a few things from previous whale watching excursions and I put that knowledge to work. Fast shutter speed and higher than I wanted ISO settings.
