This photo was taken in Braga, Portugal. One of the oldest cities of Portugal, it was founded some 2000 years ago by the Romans.Time
I took this photo about 12.00 o clockLighting
In this old part of Braga the streets are very narrow, so the sunlight was blocked by the surrounding buildings. This offers a nice light without the highlights and dark shadows of direct sun light.Equipment
I have a Lumix DMC-TZ100, all my photos are taken with this little miracle of a point and shoot camera... I don't like to carry extra equipment with me, I prefer the simple point and shoot photography. The best thing about this camera is that it has a Leica lens and it is very easy to carry with you because it practically fits in your back pocket.Inspiration
This grey building made of one kind of natural stone building blocks caught my eye. The worn and fragile wooden door contrasts nicely with the strong stone construction. I wanted to show the desolate feeling that it gave me.Editing
I edited a bit of light and shadow in Lightroom and cropped the photo. In my camera bag
I don't have a bag of equipment at all, only my Lumix DMC-TZ100, a wonderful intelligent automatic pocket camera which practically fits in my back pocket. It shows that you do not have to use expensive and big cameras to achieve nice results...Feedback
If you want to take a photo like this one, just look around for the simple every day compositions... Avoid the direct sunlight because it creates hard highlights and dark shadows. If you look at a subject to photograph, you have to try to realize what you want to achieve, Try to find the good light, the right point of view and the best composition... And most of all, take more shots with slightly different settings so you can choose the best one, once you get home and open your laptop when the magic of today's digital world begins... I always crop it later into the size and composition I like best. Crop the photo in different ways, so you can choose the best one the next day when you can have a fresh look at them!
