DSC0103_2 The light, strong and mirrored shadows, leading lines, shapes and textures worked together to produce what I saw in Jailhouse Alleyway. I felt the depth the shadows created near to far.

I made this photograph in the small town of Bisbee, Arizona.Time
I usually like to walk around, and explore an area that I'm interested in making sketch images with my cell phone camera. I look, observe, and study the interaction of light, and the play of light and shadow on a variety of subjects. While I was in Bisbee, I was walking past the alleyway in my photograph. The light and shadows, and the composition elements all interacted to present me with my objective, and sense of what I wanted. Time of Day was at 3:09pm on March 16, 2017.Lighting
My objective was to look for how the light interacts with the town of Bisbee as my overall subject. Bisbee was a mining town that witnessed hard times and events. It was this objective of harsh light and crisp shadows I wanted as part of my photography.Equipment
I use my pixel for sketch images. My camera of choice is the slow and methodical 4x5 view camera. Gitzo tripod. Modified Pentax spot meter. For Infrared photography, I use a Pentax 67. Digital photography is with a Nikon D850.Inspiration
A wonderful example of light and shadow. Much interplay, symbolism, and the two way portals that were created by the illusions of light, shadow, and compositional elements. The color file of this photograph glows. The senses are touched, you can even taste the atmosphere of the alleyway. The Black and White intrigues, and beckons the viewer to move on.Editing
I did exposure. Blacks, Highlight tweaking. No Crop.In my camera bag
Almost always my 4x5. Digital is the Nikon D850, and an 18 to 35 lens. Polarizing, and ND filters. Pentax Spot meter.Feedback
Take your time. Explore and wander. Have an idea or sense of what you would like. Serendipity is good. Make what is given to you. Use the gear that you have used in making past photograph images. It is nice to try something as well, but only in those lull times. Maybe light painting, or give that mirrorless camera a go. Good to fail, learn, and making use of lull time.
