That looks like a very expensive ($1500) Brompton foldable bicycle!

Captured by the eye of a sculptor! You could put this in your town square as an example of current culture - we have so much, we throw it away! :))

Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo in the harbour of my home town, Enkhuizen.

Time

It was 8 AM

Lighting

The sun was just coming up and lit the shopping cart and bicycle nicely.

Equipment

I didn't use any equipment other then my wonderful little Lumix DMC-TZ100.

Inspiration

When I drove by on my way to work, I saw this "litter" pulled out of the harbour. I stopped and tried to take a photo from a special POV to create a strange image showing the waste culture in wich we live.

Editing

I cropped, edited and turned it into B&W in Lightroom.

In my camera bag

I don't have any equipment in my bag (yet) I am a beginning photographer and I am learning to use a camera, to look for the good light, composition and point of view. One day when I know how to use and set the camera well enough, I will start to think about a bag filled with technical things instead of the need to understand...

Feedback

The first and best advice I can give anybody is to be patient and wait until that one moment you are looking for comes around... But before you can take the photo, you have to have an idea what you want to achieve and where. Look when the light will be good and from what position you want to take your photo. The right time of day and the right weather are important as well. I was trying to take a nice photo of the shopping cart with the bicycle but I missed something in the composition…I tried to find a nice POV and climbed down the wall to take a photo from down below. When I walk through a city or anywhere else, I allways look around me very carefully to see the details of wich the world around me is build up. I try to look through a pinhole, without forgetting the whole picture. If you look at a subject to photograph, you have to try to realise what kind of composition you want to create... And most of all, take more shots with slightly different settings so you can choose the best one. Once you get home and open your laptop, the magic of today's world begins... I allways crop it later into the size and composition I like best. Crop the photo in different ways, so you can choose the best one the next day when you can have a fresh look at them!
