I gathered this image of Bridalveil Fall about halfway from the trail head to the falls. The glaciers that carved Yosemite Valley left many hanging valleys that spawned the waterfalls that pour into the valley. All of the waterways that fed these falls carved the hanging valleys into steep cascades with the exception of Bridalveil Fall. Bridalveil Creek still leaps into the valley from the edge of the precipice, although that edge has moved back into an alcove from the original edge of the valley. While Yosemite Falls seem to also fall into this category, the original course took the Yosemite Creek down a gorge to the west of its current location. The primary source of Bridalveil Falls is Ostrander Lake, some 16 Kilometers (9.9 mi) to the south. Visit if you can!!

I Gathered this image of Bridalveil Fall while visiting Yosemite Valley National Park on May 15th, 2003.Time
I was on the trail to the falls at 4:12 in the afternoon.Lighting
For me the lighting in this image could not be any better. The trees and rocks around the perimeter make for a natural surround for the falls. The sunlight on the falls makes for a very nice contrast in the image.Equipment
I gathered this image with my Olympus - C 4040 camera hand held no flash.Inspiration
Yosemite Valley Is a wonderful place to gather images. I was about half way to the falls on the trail when I came to this spot. There was no doubt I would gather several images.Editing
I always post process my images with Photoshop - C-17. Some images take more processing that others. In my camera bag
My Camera bag is way to heavy!! My camera of choice is my Olympus E-5 Digital Camera. My four lenses are all Olympus, Digital OM - System Zuiko Lenses. They are in no particular order: 1, 50mm 1:2 Macro ED 2, 12-60 1:2,8-4 3, 50-200 1:2-8 -3,5 4, 500 1:8. Hoods for all my lenses, Lens cleaning supplies, An extra rubber eye piece as I lost one on location once, My Olympus E-5 Manual as I am always learning, Weather protection if needed, A bottle of water and maybe a snack or two. Also several extra white shop towels.Feedback
Always have your camera with you!! If you spot something that interest you stop and gather the image. In fact gather several images. Try different lenses and a different point of view. Most of all enjoy what you are doing.
