I was on a 10 day fishing adventure for big tuna 250 miles south and west of the tip of Baja California. The vessel " The American Angler " was moving to a new spot when this Humpback Whale breached several times next to the boat. I just had enough time to go to my cabin and grab my camera so I could gather this image.

Great capture! I've been out a bunch of times and haven't gotten this iconic shot yet. Maybe this year....

Jdmccranie This Humpback whale had breached several times and after I got my camera in my hands I just had enough time for maybe 3 or 4 images before the whale sounded. This image is the one I choose.

It was close to midday and the lighting was perfect! I was very pleased with the lighting!!!Lighting
I was very fortunate that the lighting was clear and bright!!Equipment
I gathered this image hand held with my Olympus - E-5 camera, Aperture f/9, ISO 200, Shutter 1/640, Focal length 60/1.Inspiration
Not much Inspiration was needed as this was a very special moment!!Editing
I always post-process my images with the latest version of Adobe Photoshop!!In my camera bag
My Olympus E-5 Camera with battery pack below goes in last so I can have it in my hands quickly!! below the camera are several white cotton hand towels that cover my Zuiko Digital lens collection: Zuiko Digital 50-200mm, 1:2.8-35, my Olympus 50mm1:2 Macro, my Olympus Zuiko Digital 12-60mm 1:2.8-4 and my Olympus OM-System Zuko Reflez 5000mm 1:8. I also carry lens cleaning supplies and my e-5 camera manual as my memory sometimes takes a nap!! I also carry an extra view finder cover as I lost once on location. My camera bag is way to heavy, someday I will acquire a whole new system for all my Camera Gear!!!Feedback
Always have your camera and lenses clean and in good repair! I keep my Camera and Lenses clean and ready in bag along with my camera manual as my memory sometimes takes a nap. A snack and a bottle of water at your side is also a good idea, Most of all enjoy yourself
