Storybook House

Hobbit (or mushroom houses), can be found scattered around the world; But, there are more than two dozen of these charming houses, found in the small town of Charlevoix, Michigan.

Architect Earl young, built these
unique, storybook styled homes from the 1930's -1960's, helping to transform the picturesque, lakeside town, into the summer vacation destination it is.
Earl Young died in 1975.

In the early 2000's, engineer and designer Micheal Seitz, discovered and fell in love with Carlevoix and the mushroom houses.
He began building clever designs of his own, revitalizing the Earl Young style.
Most homes are private residences, others are available as vacation rentals, (the homes feature, ... extensive stonework and imaginative, old-world design, incorporated with all the luxuries of a 21st century home ).
