We only got to see a small part of Chiapas admittedly - but what we saw was *stunningly* beautiful. As we drove on twisty mountain roads up and over and through mountains and valleys we watched misty mountain peaks stretching in every direction, jungle interrupted occasionally with savanna-like fields of grazing cattle, there were streams and waterfalls, tiny villages, dappled sunlight - it was this wild jungle mountainous magical area that people were working to tame, as evidenced by the corn growing on the sides of the road, and the chickens and pigs roaming the streets in the small towns.
