I vacationed in Mexico, in a lovely small town south of Cancun, Puerto Morelos, for a week. While in Mexico we climbed the ruins of Ek'Balam, visited Chichen Itza (which is awful now and essentially a flea market), we swam in an underground cenote full of tropical birds and bats and impossibly clear water, and we swam with tropical fish and manta rays in the ocean daily. We rented a fantastic condo on the ocean, ate like locals, even met lots of people who live there. We had a wonderful week. We went though because friends of mine were getting married. The morning after the wedding, we went into town and played on the beach, photographed them with the famous lighthouse of Puerto Morelos, and then they jumped into the ocean off the pier. They are ROCK STARS. I was so lucky to be there with them - and taking their photos was an absolute joy.
