People's Choice
Grand Jury Winner

"This image is wonderful in the way they children are all looking at each other, cracking up while one child is looking right at the photographer! You can’t help but be pulled right into a smiling mood when viewing this image! The photographer really demonstrated strong composition here with regard to shooting with one child looking forward and the rest looking toward one another! The gritty black and white also accentuates the shapes and contrast, muting colors that would otherwise add distraction. Great choice and a truly wonderful image! To me, this stood out as a winner in the “All Smiles” competition because they are all smiling –including the judge! Congratulations Marco!" - Lisa Langell

Runner Up

"What a beautifully composed and photographed image – such expression! I love everything about this image. Its simplicity really keeps me focused on the face and expression! It’s an amazing smile and I love the feeling of genuine laughter that comes from deep within her to carry off this wonderful expression! The lighting is excellent and the gesture with her hands, combined with the wonderful outfit really makes this a compelling black-and-white image. It’s not overdone, over-propped, or cliché. Just beautiful joy – and I love this image!" - Lisa Langell

Runner Up

"I love this image for myriad reasons. First, kudos to this Tibetan man, despite his imperfect teeth, who put aside any vanity to simply let a compelling smile come forth in a moment of undiluted joy! You can see the happiness in his eyes and he truly exudes joy! In most first world countries, the slightest imperfections in our bodies often make people hide from the camera out of self-consciousness and fear of negative reactions. Not this man—he lets his happiness shine like a beacon and I love him for it. The photographer did an excellent job of capturing this image at precisely the decisive moment. The processing and composition are also excellent. I think this image should let us all reflect on what we have in life and the joys we can find within it, no matter our challenges and imperfections. Well done!" - Lisa Langell
