Fantastic shot moving from high to low key over the frame, you master lighting very well. I would love to know how you put this picture together.

Thank you very much Richard. Its a single shot with a white background. The model's face had a led light on which illuminated it from the side. I looked for the exact poit where the light was touching his left eye and I took the shot. It the took some post-production to expose even more the illuminated part of the face and darken the shadows in the shaded one. Sorry for my little english with google translate. :-)

The photo was taken at home using a white sheet hanging from the ceiling as a backdropTime
The shot was made on september 19, 2017 at 11:14 PMLighting
For the lighting I used a Manfrotto led spotlight placed near the model's face that was almost resting on a white sheet hanging from the ceiling of the room. The aim was to create a very illuminated part of the face and a particularly dark part. The will was to make the part of the skin become very white and increase the blackness of the details of the face (eyes, sopraccigglia and other). The lamp was mounted on an easel and positioned at face heightEquipment
Nikon D5 with 85mm Nikon. Iso 3200; f/4; 1/125. Freehand shooting with fixed light.Inspiration
I had seen a similar photo made to Angelina Jolie a few years before and (having available a dark model that I thought suitable for the purpose) I tried to realize this high keyEditing
After developing the raw and arranging the lights for the burned areas, I ventured the beautiful picture contrast. Using photoshop I then removed the shaded areas of the sheet positioned as a background that (inevitably) the sheet had created. Then using Color Efex, I further accentuated the contrasts by increasing the sharpness of the eyes and eyebrow. Finally, I treated the skin of the model with "accentua passage" of photoshop. In my camera bag

Any advice for this shot? Go outside the rules shown in the manuals. Use your own experience to create new things that are not shown on photography books. Dare and invent (where it is possible) something that the instrument would say impossible.
