Location
Shooting newborn babies is fun and chalenging. This cutie sleeped deeply during the session in our studio so we could play a lot. We got this lion costume and personalised it with the flower so it became a "lioness".Time
Normally I shoot in the better sleep hour of the baby. Can't remember if this one was early on the morning or middle afternoon. Anyway, it was in studio with artificial lights, so doesn't matter.Lighting
We done this with only a still light of 600w inside a softbox with a softning filter between the light and the softbox's cloth.Equipment
A Canon 5D mkII with a 50mm 1.8 lenses, and lightned with a 600w yellow light inside a softbox.Inspiration
This beauty was born in July, so a lioness costume was mandatory. Pink flower and background come to make it more fluffy and the tail around her make the picture more cuddle.Editing
Basic color correction, removed some redish from the skin and softned it.In my camera bag
For newborn, the picture equipment is a Canon 5D mkII with a 50mm lenses (the wider the oppening, the better), and the softbox with a 600w light. My experiense teached me that the most important thing is the cushion bellow the baby and a lot of acessories to better positioning them.Feedback
Babies are so different from each other that you need to come up with different strategies to click them. Like most photography, you need to study your lighting technique and basic ways of positioning the baby. Most of all, do with all your love and tenderness. Believe, show in your pictures!
