Behind The Lens

Location

I've shot this in a countryside in Rio Verde - GO - Brazil, during a session for local singers.

Time

I like to start shooting a bit before the golden hour, so i is between 16h30 and 17h30 local time.

Lighting

I've shot this with sun in the back, and didn't put light on them. It's most post processing for them to be like this.

Equipment

Canon 6D and a 70-200mm 2.8.

Inspiration

The singers are a pair of Sertanejo (country music here in Brazil), and sing about work in the field, horses, the culture of the countryside men. But also about love, faith and happiness. This all was in my mind while shooting.

Editing

A heavy tone and color correction in Lightroom, then some refining in Photoshop.

In my camera bag

For an outside shooting I carry 2 bodies (1 for backup), a 70-200 2.8, a brand new 85 1.8 art, and the nifty-fifty.

Feedback

For me this picture is more about mood and directing than photography technique. They where my clients, not models, so I connected with them and went for things they love and I can relate or like. Shoot this one with the guts, not the brain.
