Location
This was taken at the Texas State Fair Grounds in Dallas, TX.Time
This was take at about 6:30pm in mid October.Lighting
This was shot in open daylight.Equipment
Nikon D90, freehand, ISO 400 1/60 @ f5.6 with a 18 - 105mm lens.Inspiration
This was shot outside the Texas Discovery Gardens where they have a Butterfly House. There were a large number of these and I was able to get fairly close to them. This was extra special because when I was n elementary school our class had raised one and then released it. https://txdg.org/butterfly-house/Editing
There was some post processing done to it but it was very minimal. I used Adobe Lightroom, I added a curves adjustment to it, enabled the lens profile for the 18 - 105mm lens, very small amount of smoothing to reduce the noise and that was all.In my camera bag
These days I carry both a Nikon D750 and my D90, but mostly shoot with the D750. I also carry a 50mm f1.8, 70 - 200mm f2.8 and a 24 -120mm f4 lens, extra batteries for my cameras, lens cloth, and a few other mics. items.Feedback
When shooting wild life, weather it be butterflies, birds or something else you have got to be patient. In some cases you may need to be in a blind and in others you can be out in the open, but you will have to wait for the action or wildlife to get accustomed to your presence.
