This photo was taken at the Tyler Rose Garden in Tyler TX. I am a mostly self taught photographer, I first picked up a camera when I was about 12 years old and fell in love with photography.Time
This was from a day trip to the Tyler Rose Garden that I had planned with some of my photographer friends. We meet at around 9:30 that morning and began walking through the garden looking for the best Roses and other flowers we could find to photograph. It was a beautiful sprint Saturday morning. This photo was take at about 10am April 25, 2015.Lighting
This was shot in all natural light no reflectors or modifiers were used for this shot.Equipment
I used my Nikon D90, 50mm f1.8 hand healed @ f2.8 1/1000.Inspiration
I came across this lone Rose bud and I to wanted to showcase it's singular beauty. There had been a storm that had come through the area the night before I a lot of the roses and other flower had taken damaged but this one was standing proud and ready to burst open. And it reminded me that we can make it through the storm and still be beautiful for all the world to see.Editing
I did very little post processing to this photo, I did apply a preset when I imported it into Adobe Lightroom (c) just adjusted the contrast a bit and cropped the image slightly. In my camera bag
These days I have both my Nikon D90 and my D750. I also card my 50mm f1.8, a Tamron 70 - 200mm f2.8 and a 24 - 120mm f 4 lens. Extra batteries, a gray card if a want to be able to do custom white balance and a few other miscellaneous items like a remote triger.Feedback
Scout the location that you are shooting in, always be aware of possible distractions when you are framing up the shot. Don't be afraid to shoot from what some might consider odd angels, higher or lower than standing with your camera up to your eye. It never hurts to have a tripod with you in case you need to shoot at a fairly slow shutter speed. Most of all have fun and don't be afraid to have fun and express your photographic style. You are one of a kind let it come through in your photos!
