Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo at a local park in Jacksonville, North Carolina. It has a hill with gorgeous light, too, but this was taken on a walkway trail.

Time

This was a sunrise session. Sunrise golden hour is one of my favorite times of day because the light is gorgeous.

Lighting

This was photographed with totally natural light. We had trees providing shade and the sun coming through the branches and leaves in the background are what it give it it's beautiful bokeh.

Equipment

Photographed with my Nikon D750 and my Nikkor 85mm 1.8 lens.

Inspiration

Krista wanted photos of her puppy, Nox, for her 6 month birthday. The bear is Nox's favorite toy so we had to incorporate it into her session.

Editing

I didn't do anything extensive, just some artistic and sharpness adjustments.

In my camera bag

I typically have my Nikon D750, my Nikkor 85 and 50, and an SB700 just in case. My camera bag is a House of Flynn Evermore that can fit SO much more if I want it to (I LOVE my bag!)

Feedback

When it comes to pups, be prepared to whistle and make funny noises to get them to look in your direction. The light is always the first consideration when picking a spot but having minimal distractions for pups (and young kids, too, if we're being honest here) is a huge help for their session.
