Location
This is an amazing hidden gem of a local park in Jacksonville, North Carolina. Honestly, you'd have no idea you're in the middle of the city when you're there. This photo was taken as part of a family session featuring Kylo, his fur sibling and parents.Time
This was originally intended as a golden hour session but of course North Carolina weather being North Carolina weather it was very cloudy for the session.Lighting
This was taken using entirely natural light, the heavy clouds acting as nature's soft box for this photo.Equipment
This was taken with a Nikon D750 with an Nikkor 85 mm 1.8 lens and a polarizing filter on my lens. I had mom & dad behind me to grab Kylo's attention.Inspiration
As a family portrait photographer, I always grab photos of kiddos during sessions. For this family, Kylo is one of their kiddos so I wanted to make sure he had his own portrait taken, too.Editing
I try not to do too much to photos in photoshop, I want them to be beautiful but also realistic. In this case, a few minor tweaks to contrast and some minor artistic edits really helped Kylo pop!In my camera bag
In addition to my camera & lens combo mentioned before, I also have Nikkor 35 & 50 mm lenses on hand, a Nikon speedlight, and magmod magsphere just in case I want to add a pop of light.Feedback
Getting pups to look at mom and dad is the easiest way to do this! Whistling can lead to dogs who may not be so perfectly trained to come over to you instead of sitting/lying regally where they are told.
