Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken at a park in Jacksonville, North Carolina.

Time

This was taken during the sunset golden hour. The light was rich and the lens flare was done in camera.

Lighting

I wanted rich, vibrant colors for this image so we intentionally planned the session during golden hour. The lens flare was done in camera and definitely added some dramatic color & light to the image. Natural light with no modifiers.

Equipment

This was shot with a Nikon D750 and a 85 mm lens. Natural light.

Inspiration

Gage and Samuel already have an amazing connection and I really wanted to capture that. I don't think I even told Gage to kiss Samuel, he just did it on his own! Nothing like having an infant who already knows to look at the camera!

Editing

I did some post processing, mostly sharpening and enhancing the colors. The light was spot on and didn't require a lot of work.

In my camera bag

I typically have my Nikon D750, my Nikkor 85 and 50, and an SB700 just in case.

Feedback

Really play with where you're standing for light! It's incredible the difference a foot in either direction can make, especially with lens flare!
