A female bald eagle, the iconic symbol of American freedom, brings nesting material back to the nest that she shares with her mate in a tall redwood tree located in front of a local elementary school near San Jose, California. Since this photo was taken in early April 2017, at least one eaglet has hatched and is reported to be thriving. The photo of the field of lupine and background clouds are also mine, and obviously a little photo art was employed!
