This squirrel is so friendly and comes to our door every day to ask for peanuts or walnuts. We named it Einstein because it only took one try to motion for it to climb up on the garage roof so we could throw peanuts to it. I hope he-she sticks around for a long time. This is the cutest squirrel I have ever seen and we have a lot of them in our yard. The squirrel comes up to the house, jumps up on the door handle and looks in to see if anyone is there then jumps into the bushes and runs to the bottom of the door to look in. This is repeated until someone opens the door and throws a peanut out. Annoying behavior sometimes but also cute.

Sciurus carolinensis? If so it's a well fed one! We have many over here in the UK and they're one of my favourites - we rescued a baby a few years back, raised him and he 'escaped' in an area where there are none of our red squirrels. he was amazingly clever and affectionate.We had to keep it all quiet as it is illegal to release them. His drey had been destroyed and his parents shot (along with others) as people keep trying to eradicate them as they were introduced from the US and they reckon they compete with our native reds and give them squirrel pox.
