Stood tall like a king of all mountains
When I arrived at the world famous Snake River Overlook in the Grand Teton National Park, to my surprise, it was quite scarce. Probably because of the rather blustery wind that chased away those who wanted to stick around a tad bit longer, despite the fact that it was sunny. The whole basin between the Grand Teton mountain range and the Gros Ventre Wilderness is like a long stretch of wind tunnel from Jackson Lake all the way to Jackson. And also, the unforgettable fall foliage view from this spot was to be seen still a few months away. While appreciating the perpetually meandering Snake River in the foreground, I turned to what I came here for. The iconic Grand Teton stood tall like a king of all mountains, above all the adjacent peaks, as it always had in those hundreds of photos, if not thousands, I’d seen before. It was just magnificent.
