As cool morning air still lingered
As we climbed a bit higher, May Lake and the mountain range beyond the valley came into view. The calm lake again looked like mirror reflecting the pines around the lakeshore. The prominent Mt. Conness and adjacent peaks, still cloaked in the morning haze, created a wonderful mountain skyscraper. The sun, still hanging low, cast a warm light on the surface of the granite slopes of Mt. Hoffmann. It was simply delightful to hike in the company of the abundant amount of pines as the cool morning air still lingered in the shade. But we were about to ascend above the timberline.
