Location
This photo was taken at a fire department open house demonstration. The firefighters had just finished performing a mock automobile accident extrication. This firefighter happens to be my son as he was taking the jaws of life back to his truck to be ready for the next call.Time
It was early afternoon on a late October day. So the sun is fairly low in the southern sky.Lighting
No clouds so the shadows were strong. Which I think added to the image.Equipment
Nikon D7200 with a kit zoom lens.Inspiration
This was a demonstration and not a real emergency so I knew the fire department would allow me to get a bit closer than usual.Editing
I tonemapped it to get the bold colors and strong lines. In my camera bag
I carry a Nikon D7100 and a D7200. I have a nice Nikkor 85-400mm zoom, wide angle 10-24mm, as well as the 18-140mm zoom that I took this shot with. I carry a Sirui tripod for when I travel. I should use it more than I do.Feedback
I took lots of shots. I think this image was more about the processing and subject than the actual shot. I like the hard shadow against the truck.
