Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo just out of Rotorua on the way to the Desert Road in the North Island of New Zealand in June 2016.

Time

This was taken early morning during winter.

Lighting

When we left Rotorua there wasn't any fog, but as we went into the countryside the fog appeared. The only lighting was what nature provided. I wasn't sure what I had captured as the fog was fairly thick.

Equipment

I took this from the car while it was moving, and I was sitting in the front passenger seat. I used my Nikon D5100 and was hand held. I was pleasantly surprised how well it turned out.

Inspiration

The only thing that inspired me was the fog and that I could see the tree .I had never tried a photo like this before, so thought "why not I have nothing to lose and maybe something to gain".....how true....especially as I was in a moving car.

Editing

I didn't have any editing software in 2016 except for what Windows has in the photos program, so probably just used the Enhance tool.

In my camera bag

Back then I would normally have my camera with my kit lens, spare battery, memory card and Tamron 70-300 lens. Currently I am using my new Nikon Coolpix P950 so do not need extra lenses. So for that camera I take a cleaning cloth, charger, tripod and remote shutter release.

Feedback

The best advice I can give is try anything you like, you just never know what you could end up with.
