I took this photograph near Paris, IL at sunset. The session was initially for the oldest daughter but when her younger sister arrived all dressed up I just had to get her in a few shots also.Time
This was taken at sunset. The gravel road and the grain bins in the background made this the perfect combination for a pure country feeling.Lighting
I only the available natural light for this photograph. I'm not an expert with lighting so it took a couple different tries to get it right.Equipment
I used my Canon 5D Mark III and an 85mm 1.2L.Inspiration
These two were so polite during the entire session that I knew I wanted to capture something special with the two of hem together that they would treasure for years to come.Editing
I used Lightroom and photoshop to adjust the exposure and crop correctly. I also added a little bit of warmth to the photograph. In my camera bag
I have my Canon 5D Mark III, a Canon 85mm 1.2L, a Canon 50mm 1.4, & a Canon 135mm 2.0 in my case all the time. I even have a couple of flashes that I carry just in case but very rarely use. I normally only use the 85mm 1.2L though.Feedback
When photographing children you just have to let them be them. Be patient and kind to them. I always try to make things as funny as I can and I listen to what they talk about so I can chime in when I can about what they are interested in. All I did to be able to capture this photograph was ask them to walk down the road a little ways and then just walk back toward me. This image is all them. They created the look together and all I had to do was capture it.
