amazing photo! the colours are so strong and yet the lens is not flared.

i find it difficult to shoot against the sun (especially sunrise/ sunset) as either it will be overblown because of the light, or the subject will be too dark... you managed to get just the right balance!

Behind The Lens

Location

In a field at Southfork Homestead Farms just south of Paris, IL. Here’s the Link to the facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/southforkhomestead.farm/

Time

I took the image during the golden hour.

Lighting

I only used the natural light during the golden hour.

Equipment

I took the image with my Canon 5D Mark III and and Canon 85mm f/1.2 USM II lens

Inspiration

I took my daughter and her friends out to the farm to have some fun and brought my camera with me just Incase I could get them to let me take a few shots. The girls were thrilled and so were their parents.

Editing

I used Lightroom and photoshop to create the final image. Created a directional Light with photoshop along with pooping the color. Also added a little more exposure to the image.

In my camera bag

I carry my Canon 5D Mark III, Canon 85mn f/1.2 lens.

Feedback

Just have fun and try a lot of different angles. I had someone’s dad (Claimed to be a photographer also) tell me one time during a photo shoot when I was just getting started that they thought I wasn’t supposed to shoot into the direction of the sun. So I said how would you like me to take the image of your daughter. And I shot in the direction they thought I should and let him tell his daughter what to do for the pose. And then I said now that I’ve done exactly what you wanted I would like to at least do it my way so you can see the difference. So I told his daughter where to stand and how I wanted to do the photo. I showed him his way and my way and guess what. He didn’t like the way he suggested and lived the way I created the image. Moral is don’t let others bring down your creative process. Just have fun doing what you do. Your a photographer for a reason. And contrary to today’s popular belief not just anyone out there is a creative photographer. Sure there’s a lot of picture takers out there. Some with fancy equipment and some with just a cell phone. Doesn’t matter the gear. What matters is you the artist can create whatever you desire by just letting your natural artistic instincts flow. I hope everyone has a great day!
