On my first dawn, at 2am, in Jeju Island, i wanted to frame the Milky Way along the coastline, but the city lights were too much that it made everything impossible to do so. Hence, I decided to take photos of the sunrise. To get the perfect sunrise and cloud texture, it took me three more dawns and lost a total of 15.5 hours of good sleep and rest in a vacation. But I knew I just had to go for it. Whether it ends well or not, it is still an experience.

Location
This photo was taken in Jeju island, South Korea. I'm a self taught photographer. I was doing my best to capture the Milky way and do star trails, and ended up doing this instead.Time
I was supposed to shoot the Milky way and do Star trails at 2:30am on the same spot, but the city lights were too much to acomplish those. Hence, i ended up doing this instead.Lighting
I wanted to have a perfect cloud texture, and enough lighting from the sun to reflect on the sea...so it took me 3 more days to catch it all together in photo.Equipment
This was shot using a Canon 760d with a canon f2.8 16-35mm wide angle lens, a benro 10-stop filter, a formatt hitech filter holder, and a benro tripod.Inspiration
I wanted to take a sunrise photo along the shores of Jeju island, and include the lava stones which are rich in the said place. Jeju island was such a serene place to live in, and i wanted to emphasize that through this picture.Editing
I used 3 raw photos (background, highlights, and shadows), edited each of them in lightroom and blended them in photoshop. It is also where i did the final post processing to come up with this photo. In my camera bag
I just started taking my photos to the next level during the last quarter of 2015. So i dont have much in my current bag. i have my Canon 760d body which weighs a lot less than what i had before, so it enables me to bring it during my travels more often. I use an EF 16-35mm f2.8, a wide angle lens which is perfect for the type of photography that i do (landscapes and astrophotography). I have a benro tripod that is sturdy enough to handle the weight of my camera and lens, but light enough to bring in my travels. And finally, my benro filters and my formatt hitech filter holder.Feedback
Before taking a trip, plan ahead. Check the weather conditions, time when the sun or moon rises and sets. Have time to explore the area once you get there...so usually, a few hours early is key. Have patience to get the right amount of light and exact timing to take that shot that would give that "wow" factor for your image.
