Person with same likes... great practise for timing, exposure and ISO setting etc etc etc. You get to know your camera and abilities in a hurray. Very nice work... you raised the bar for me.

Behind The Lens

Location

This was captured from our boat dock. That is in the Vesterålen islands. North Norway.

Time

Midday with the sun reflecting from a perfectly calm sea.

Lighting

The sun was diffuse from some light clouds.

Equipment

My now dead d810 was used for this. 120-300 f2.8 sigma lens at 220mm My favourite combination for bird photography.

Inspiration

The inspiration for this shot came from the mirror like sea and watching the seagulls. I threw some bread out for them to encourage them to perform for me.

Editing

Light contrast tweaks and a little lightning of the reflection was necessary. Seagulls are not easy to get the exposure right due to their whiteness.

In my camera bag

I take my macro lens everywhere 105 f2.8 because you never know what might crop up. The rest I put it together for what ever situation might crop up. for birds its my 120-300 f2.8. For landscape 16-35 and a bunch of filters. I do like to play with the big stopper.

Feedback

Watch nature and see how it reacts. If you see something good encourage it. In this case I watched the seagulls natural behaviour and encouraged them to do it for me with bread.
