Location
You can almost hear that lonesome whistle blow. I was on my way home from visiting my mother in law I spotted an old bridge in the distance so I looked for the next crossing and hiked back along the tracks till I finally got to the bridge and took the shot. It was shot in Delhi Ontario. I love the way the shiny rails draw you into the distance.Time
This was shot at probably the most boring time of the day for taking pictures about 1:30 pm on a bright sunny day. I have since gone back at better times but still like this photo best.Lighting
In this case the lighting was not as important as the concept of the strong converging lines in the composition for me.The idea that the rails run on forever into the distance. Leading the eye into not out of the photo.Equipment
I shot this using my Nikon D3200 and an 18 to 200mm lens with the camera held down low close to the tracksInspiration
I love shooting landscapes from around my home town and like working alone where most people don't go so this old railroad bridge was a natural fit for me.Editing
I always retouch my photos in Lightroom to enhance the parts that caught my attention in the first place and to close the photo to keep the viewers eye in the picture. In my camera bag
Normally in my bag is my 85mm prime lens for portraits ,a polorizer and a ND1000 filter for long exposures, my trusty Nikon D3200 with a 18mm to 300mm Nikor lens and a tripod. I try to travel light because I love to hike into locations that are off the beaten path. If I see a trail that I haven't followed before it goes on my must do list.Feedback
Go where you have never been before. Sometimes there is a great photo just around the corner and if nothing else you have had some exercise and seen someplace you have never seen before. Explore.
