Thank you to all the photographers that shared their best photos showing empty tracks in the Empty Railways Photo Contest with chances to win a Portable Printer and more!

A special thanks to our friend and professional photographer Dimitrios Kontiza for his collaboration as a guest judge in this photo contest. My name is Dimitrios Kontizas and I was born in Athens in 1980. I graduated from the Technological Institute of Athens in Greece as a Technologist of Graphic Arts and Design. For two years I worked at the scanning and photo editing department of a major newspaper in Greece and spent another two years working at a print shop.

People's Choice
Grand Jury Winner

"Watching those tracks make you think that they are destroyed or abandoned. Yet, with a second look you realize that they have been used recently, leading to a line of trees through out a hostile landscape. I really want to go and see my self what is over that tree line." - Dimitrios Kontiza

Runner Up

"Imagine the stories and people who live their lives next to that track. This is not a place you need to discover but it's people." - Dimitrios Kontiza

Runner Up

"Such mystery over this track. It seems that the telephone poles are trying to get out of the river and the track is the only way to lead them home." - Dimitrios Kontiza
