Believe it or not I haven'y much of a tale to tell for this photograph, Sharpness is a small dockland town on the banks for the river Severn between Bristol and Gloucester at the head of the Bristol Channel, it has two old wooden industrial jetties, which unfortunately I couldn't access so best endeavors brought be to this viewpoint. I used the Sigma EX 10 - 20 mm at the ultra wide end with a couple of Cokin grads to keep the highlights from the bright sky in check, the nearest object was focused at almost infinity so F11 was used as it would provide ample depth of field and it is quite a sweet spot on this excellent lens. The Canon EOS 550d is an entry level DSLR but I have found over the last few years that coupled with good glass and appropriate settings it can hold it's own against bodies costing far more.
I exposed for the highlights on the water for this shot and raised the shadow detail a touch along with clarity and presence in Lightroom afterwards.
